Hopefully they will solve the problem this week. ![]() Randygo wroteThis is the response I received from Celemony support a few days ago. It's really hard to argue with their theory when their work has so much sonic depth. He and some other guys whose work I admire seem to be of the opinion that most of the music they hear has very little of it, and sounds much too one dimensional, with all of the dry close miking being done these days. I think, IIRC, that was related to MJ overdubbing multiple layers of backing vocals.īruce the Viking, arguably the Michael Jordan of audio engineers, coined a phrase long ago that has stuck to my subconscious like glue. On successive takes, he'd have MJ take a step back away from the mic, to get different amounts of "air" on the takes leading to what was obviously a great result. I read an interview with Bruce Swedien (not sure if I spelled that right) where he talked about doing that with MJ when recording that monster album. You can literally hear Bowie stepping back from the mic as the song progresses. Matthewgorman wroteListen to Heroes with a good set of cans. ![]()
